Jagged Edge singer Kyle Norman is facing charges of aggravated assault after being arrested early in the morning on Thursday, Jan. 29 in Atlanta, Georgia. Norman’s unnamed fiancee called the police after the R&B singer allegedly attacked her.

Police told Us Weekly that the victim had welts under her eyes, a golf ball-sized knot on her upper left forehead, a cut on her nose, and a burst blood clot in her right eye.

Norman’s fiancee told police the singer, 38, punched and choked her with a scarf before shoving her engagement ring down her throat, further choking her. He also allegedly took her car keys and broke her cell phone when she attempted to leave.

He also stated that “she was gonna die today.”

The victim told police that she tried to calm her fiancé down, agreeing with him and soothing him long enough that she could escape to a neighbor’s house. When the police arrived, Norman was running down the sidewalk and shouted, “I need to go to jail.”

The couple reportedly got into a fight about Norman’s drinking, and the singer later told police that he was upset to learn about his father’s recent cancer diagnosis when the fight began.
